The Maxcom MX-RFSG series signal generators are simple low-cost devices used to generate RF signals or carriers up to 1800 MHz. 3 models are available, 5~204 MHZ, 250~1800 MHZ, and 700~1800 MHz. Used for a variety of situations from troubleshooting to performance testing. These units are versatile, portable, low-cost and compact with rechargeable batteries making them an ideal tool for test and measurement.

  1. General Details

    The MX-RFSG Series is a Compact Portable Signal and Sweep Generator. There are Currently 3 Models Available.

    • Upstream Model: MX-RFSG204  Allows operator to Generate (4) independent CW Carriers between 5~204 MHz. Each Carrier is Frequency Agile allowing the user to select any Frequency desired. It also allows the user to Generate a Sweep signal between 5~204 MHZ, the user is able to select the desired Start and Stop frequency, creating Max Flexibility.
    • Model: MX-RFSG1800F  Allows the user to Generate a Sweep signal between 250~1800 MHZ, the user is able to select the desired Start and Stop Frequency, creating Max Flexibility. When used with an SLM (Signal Level Meter) with a Max or Peak hold function, it offers excellent granularity providing the user with high resolution view of the signal performance. It also allows operator to Generate a CW Carrier between 250~1800 MHz.  Carrier is Frequency Agile allowing the user to select any Frequency desired.
    • Model: MX-RFSG1800  (This is a smaller more compact lower cost model) – Allows the user to Generate a Sweep signal between 700~1800 MHZ, the user is able to select the desired Start and Stop Frequency, creating Max Flexibility. When used with an SLM (Signal Level Meter) with a Max or Peak hold function, it offers excellent granularity providing the user with high resolution view of the signal performance. It also allows operator to Generate a CW Carrier between 700~1800 MHz.  Carrier is Frequency Agile allowing the user to select any Frequency desired.

    These small, handy and affordable devices are an essential tool for every technician. It presents a fast and simple tool for creating RF test carriers. Commonly used by CATV field and headend technicians where systems are beginning to upgrade their RF plant bandwidth (up to 1800 MHz), or High Split Upstream changes to 204 MHz.

    The device is a highly integrated RF signal/sweep generator specifically designed for Cable Telecommunication Technicians working in the HFC environment. Its small size, portability and battery power can easily assist the technician to quickly identify network issues when performing network bandwidth upgrades, equipment upgrades, or plant performance and proofing.

    By injecting this signal source into the plant with this device, it allows the user to insert RF signals at higher frequencies (up to 1800 MHz) on the forward/downstream, or 5 to 204 MHz reverse/upstream, depending on the model used. This allows the technician the opportunity to verify and validate the Actives, Coax, and Passives are capable of properly passing the desired frequencies.

    A necessary tool that provides an excellent solution critically needed for troubleshooting defective network equipment, or other anomalies such as “suck-outs”, “roll-off”, and other network signal ailments and impairments.

    Picture Below Illustrates a Sample of what a technician might encounter. In this Example, the signal generator is used to insert signals between 750 MHz to 1200 MHz (signal levels are flat at injection point) but shows the signal rolling of at higher frequencies when measured downstream.
